MANGO ANNOUNCES THE WINNER OF THE EL BOTÓN-MANGO FASHION AWARDS
On Wednesday, 29 April, the Jury of the second El Botón-MANGO Fashion Awards announced at a press conference the winner of the event, who received a prize of €300,000, the largest sum offered to date in a competition of this nature.
Throughout Tuesday, 28 April, and the same Wednesday morning, the members of the Jury met to assess and analyse the 10 finalist collections. The Jury, chaired by Oscar de la Renta, was made up of celebrities from the fashion world, including the multi-talented Nina García, Director of Marie Claire magazine in the USA, Laura Larbalestier, Head of Sales at Selfridges, Armand Hadida, manager of the prestigious Parisian boutique l’Éclaireur, the buying director and the cool hunter of La Rinascente, Tiziana Cardini, the renowned fashion consultant Jean Jacques Picart, Verónica Blume, one of the most international Spanish models, Jerry Hall, the renowned model of the 80s, the winners of the first Edition of the competition, Sandrina Fasoli and Michaël Marson, the fashion photographer, Mariano Vivanco, and, obviously, Isak Andic, Chairman of MANGO and Damián Sánchez, Managing Partner and Creative Director of MANGO.
Like the other finalists, the winner, Jin Youn Lee (Korea), had four months to create especially for the event a collection of 10 outfits. Along with him, the other finalists were Jean Pierre Braganza (UK), Silvia García Presas (Spain), Josh Goot (Australia), Jaeha Alex Kim (New Zealand), the partnerships formed by Miriam Lehle & Sabina Egler (Germany), Peter Pilotto & Christopher de Vos and Aleksandar Stanic & Fiona Sinha (both resident in the United Kingdom), Jakub Polanka (Czech Republic) and Christian Wijnants (Belgium).
It was a very special night, with lots of celebrities from around the world coming to discover our new Fall/Winter 09 collection.
Among the public, you could find Max Irons (son of Jeremy Irons); Riley Keough Presley (granddaughter of Elvis Presley); models Daisy Lowe, Marie-Ange Casta (sister of Laetitia), Leigh Lezak (also Misshapes DJ) and Veronica Blume (one of the most international Spanish models); young Spanish actress Leticia Dolera; or Mango Fashion Awards Jury members Jerry Hall (Mike Jagger ex-wife) and great designer Oscar de la Renta (the Jury chairman).
