Jeremy Irons’s latest film,
Appaloosa, goes on release today. In it he plays a traditional Western landgrabbing villain. In 1990 he won an Oscar for best actor in the film
Reversal of Fortune, playing Claus von Bülow. He is best remembered for his 1981 role as Charles Ryder in the adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s
Brideshead Revisited. He has been married to the actress Sinéad Cusack for 30 years and they have two grown-up sons. Jeremy Irons is 60 today.
